Bakery Oven and Packaging Line Relocation
Player and Company was charged with the complete relocation of an oven and packaging line from an Atlanta bakery to its facility South Georgia. Both systems had to be operational within 28 days of the shutdown date.
The scope of the project consisted of two systems:
- The oven and associated equipment including laminator, gauge rolls, finishing roll, salter, in feed roll, scrap conveyor, drive roll, hoist rail, make-up, and exhaust air systems.
- The packaging equipment, including spreader, packing table, transfer conveyors, box maker, box liner, empty box conveyor, full box conveyor, top sealer, and all associated piping, electrical and controls.
Because of unforeseen conditions, the oven required extensive cutting and re-welding of sections, increasing the scope of the work. Additionally, during the course of the project, at the owner’s direction, alterations and modifications were made to each system. Nevertheless, with careful planning and additional manpower and equipment, the project was completed one full week ahead of schedule.
